The Gervosons, family owners of the Château Larrivet Haut-Brion for more than 30 years, write passionately about the history of this estate. They talk of the soil; the wine and the expertise of their craftmen and moreover, the challenges overcome through innovations. With a simple rose, the story of this garden begins...
The rose "Les Demoiselles de Larrivet Haut-Brion", is the eponymous flower of the second wine produced at the property. Created by the famous Maison Meilland/ Richardier at the request of the parents, this unique rose gives homage to the couple's three daughters : Emilie, Charlotte and Valentine, symbolising a poetic bond between the wine and the garden.
In 2015, Emilie Gervoson initiates a more ambitious project by calling upon the scenographer and landscaper Soline Portmann, to create a garden dedicated to the world of wine : "I want us to be able appreciate my garden just as we appreciate a good wine". And thus, the Euphoria Garden was born..
Created in the spirit of a vineyard, those 720 sticks in acacia wood, painted in red and with various sizes, reminding us of the 4 000 m2 vineyard, in the heart of the Château's tree-filled park.
When designing the vegetable garden, Soline Portman pictured a vineyard : The planting of each vegetable variety carefully chosen to stimulate the senses, much like the art of blending. .
The colours of each plant based on different shades of wine, according to their vintage and cycle of ageing : from white to yellow for the white wine, and from dark red to rust-coloured for the red wine.
In spring, the main palette is linked to white wines with lime green, almond-green and yellow-coloured plants and aromatic citrus-like notes (Mentha rotundifolia 'Bowles', Artemisia abrotanum ..)
